Two Canadian pre-mover products built from the same event, a home listing, and packaged for different jobs. A factual comparison for teams deciding which one they need.
ResponseCanada pre-mover lists and BrightCat PreMovers both identify Canadian households before they move. Buyers searching for pre-mover data in Canada meet both names, and they are often treated as interchangeable. They aren't. One is a named contact list for outbound marketing; the other is property-level data an enterprise matches against its own customers. This page sets out what each one is, where each fits, and how to choose.
ResponseCanada Movers is a Canadian mover contact database compiled by Cleanlist and also sold through Environics Analytics as ResponseCanada Consumer Pre-Movers. Each record carries a household name and mailing address, a move stage (pre-mover, home sold or new mover), an estimated move date, owner or renter status and neighbourhood demographics. Cleanlist describes it as compiled from dozens of sources with daily updates, roughly 500,000 movers a year, delivered as a one-time list, an ongoing subscription or an API feed. Environics quotes about 250,000 pre-movers available at any time, with roughly 50,000 sold homes a month cycling out of the pool. Its stated customers are home improvement, retail, financial and insurance services, automotive, utilities and nonprofits.
BrightCat PreMovers is property-level pre-mover data. One row per listed residential property, 135+ columns of listing history, no names and no contact details. That is roughly 700,000 new sale listings a year across every province, about 13,000 a week, with about 250,000 on the market in any given week, plus the rental side. It comes off the same weekly pipeline that has captured every Canadian residential listing since 2014, so a pre-mover record carries the property's relists, price changes, withdrawals and eventual sale on one identity. It is delivered weekly into the client's Snowflake account, through an MCP connector, or as a file, under an enterprise licence. Clients match it on address against their own customer file. Buyers are insurers, banks, telecoms, government and enterprise PropTech.

ResponseCanada is built for marketers who need a deliverable list of named households and don't have a customer file to match against. Typical fit:
BrightCat is built for organisations that already hold the customer relationship and need to know which of their own addresses are about to move, inside their own environment, on terms their privacy and procurement teams will sign. Typical fit:
The structural difference is what a record is. A ResponseCanada record is a person at an address, with an estimated move date and a demographic profile attached. That is exactly what an outbound campaign needs, and it is why the product exists.
A BrightCat record is a property. It says this address listed on this date at this price, what happened to it week by week, and what it did in previous cycles back to 2014. There is no name on it. The client supplies the relationship by matching on address against their own file, so the personal information never leaves the client's environment and the vendor never holds it. For a bank or insurer, that distinction usually decides the procurement conversation before feature comparisons start.
ResponseCanada bundles pre-movers, sold homes and new movers into one mover product with a stage field. That is convenient for a marketer who wants every mover in one pull.
BrightCat keeps the listing event separate and keeps its history. A property that relists three times, cuts its price twice and finally sells is one row with all of that on it, joined to the same property in Listings, Sold and the Canada Property Master File. Teams building models, or deciding how hard to work a retention lead, use that history. Teams dropping a postcard don't need it.
Larger organisations often do. Marketing buys a named mover list for acquisition mail. Retention, risk and analytics take BrightCat PreMovers into the warehouse and match it against the book. Neither replaces the other; they cover different parts of the same move.
Sample the weekly pre-mover file through Snowflake Marketplace. Match it against your own book before committing.
