Leadership

How this started

Alexandria Goldthorpe
Founder & CEO
30+ years
Career in data — direct marketing, financial services, telecoms, real estate
2013 → 2014
Took ownership in 2013. Brought real estate data to market in 2014.
Banking, telecoms, financial services
Enterprise verticals served before BrightCat existed
5 product lines, 12M+ addresses & expanding
Core products live on Snowflake. 12 million Canadian addresses in the master file. Expanding into neighbourhood segmentation, renovation detection, investment property intelligence, AVM inputs, climate risk overlays, and AI-native delivery via MCP.

Alexandria took ownership of the company in 2013 with a thesis most of the industry hadn't arrived at yet: Canadian property data was fragmented, stale, and locked behind systems that weren't built for the way enterprise teams actually use data.

She'd already spent two decades in enterprise data — building the direct marketing and data pipelines that powered customer acquisition and risk decisioning at scale across banking, telecommunications, and financial services. She understood what enterprise buyers needed from data: consistency, cadence, and structure. Not dashboards. Not reports. The raw material.

In 2013 she began testing the Canadian real estate market — learning the data landscape, identifying the gaps, and building the methodology. By 2014, she brought it to market: weekly ingestion of Canadian real estate listings, building a proprietary pipeline that tracked every property through its full lifecycle. Listings, price changes, status transitions, sold events, relists. Every week, every province, every property type. While the rest of the market sold static snapshots, she was building a time series.

By 2024, the dataset had matured into something no competitor had replicated: twelve years of continuous weekly property intelligence across 5.8 million residential and 297,000 commercial properties. She rebranded the company as BrightCat Data — not as a cosmetic exercise, but to position it for where the industry was heading: AI-native delivery, renovation detection, investment property identification, and real-time property querying through platforms like Snowflake and MCP.

"I didn't build for the market I had. I built for the one I saw coming."
What we do

We capture the market as it moves

Every listing. Every price change. Every sale. Tracked weekly across 5.8M+ Canadian properties since 2014.

Residential and commercial. Sale and rent. National coverage.

What we don't do

We don't build predictions, reports, or dashboards

We build the data layer. You build the intelligence.

Our team

Built by specialists, not generalists

BrightCat is a focused team of data engineers, developers, and commercial specialists. Every function exists to do one thing: keep the pipeline running and the data trustworthy.

Data Engineering & Pipeline Operations
Our data engineering team manages the core pipeline — weekly ingestion, address standardization, deduplication, lifecycle tracking, and enrichment across all five product lines. This pipeline has run continuously since 2014, processing millions of records per week.
Software Development
Our development team builds and maintains the infrastructure that powers BrightCat: ETL automation, Snowflake deployment, MCP connector, API layer, and the internal tools that keep the pipeline operational at scale.
Commercial & Client Delivery
Our commercial team manages enterprise relationships, data licensing, onboarding, and sample delivery. We work directly with insurance carriers, lenders, telecoms, and PropTech platforms to scope and deliver the right data for each use case.
Security, Compliance & Data Governance
Our compliance function manages data governance, PIPEDA-consistent handling, ICO registration, and the enterprise security requirements our clients expect. Data trust starts with how the data is handled — not just how it's built.

When you call BrightCat, you talk to the people who designed, built, and maintain the pipeline. Not a sales layer. Not a call centre. The architects.

Who uses BrightCat

Teams that compete on timing

Insurance carriers, banks and lenders, telecom providers, direct marketers, and PropTech platforms.

Serving enterprise clients who need structured, reliable property data — delivered at the cadence the market actually moves.

Insurance & Risk
Carriers use BrightCat to detect renovation activity, identify investment properties, and validate property attributes at the point of underwriting — before the policy is bound.
Banking & Lending
Lenders use lifecycle intelligence for collateral monitoring, borrower risk signals, and portfolio surveillance across residential and commercial exposure.
Telecommunications
Canada's largest telecoms have used pre-mover data from this pipeline since before it was called BrightCat — to acquire customers at the exact moment they're switching providers.
PropTech & Analytics
Property platforms, AVM providers, and analytics teams use BrightCat as the foundation layer — the structured, queryable dataset their models and products are built on.

Data provenance

Built in-house. Every record, every week.

BrightCat doesn't resell third-party datasets or license someone else's pipeline. Every table, every enrichment layer, every lifecycle classification was designed, developed, tested, and maintained by our team — from first ingestion to Snowflake delivery.

2014
First weekly ingestion
Raw source files under contract. Weekly cadence from day one. The methodology that still runs today was built in the first year.
1.84M
Reclassifications applied
False lifecycle states corrected across seven years of historical data. The kind of cleanup that only happens when you own the pipeline end to end.
Every week
No exceptions
Twelve years of continuous weekly delivery. No gaps. No resets. No acquisitions that broke the methodology. One pipeline, one team, one standard.
Philosophy
